The Hungarian Europe Society welcomes the agreement of the European Council on December 8-9, 2011. We consider that an immediate easing of the European debt and credit crisis as well as the financial technical measures and long-term reforms are equally important. Therefore we appreciate the efforts taken by the French-German led European political elite to solve the crisis.

A féléves időszak a magyar európai uniós tagság és az európai értékrend mélyebb átélésére, a társadalom további európaizálódására nyújtana kivételes lehetőséget. Mégis, az alapvető demokratikus normáknak ellentmondó kormányzati magatartás következtében egyenesen az európai politikai és szellemi élet perifériájára kerülhetünk.

Örömmel fogadtuk a hírt, hogy az Európai Tanács ülésén a tagállamok vezetőinek sikerült megegyezniük a kulcsfontosságú intézményi kérdésekről. Két évvel az alkotmányozási folyamat megrekedése után most komolyan bízhatunk abban, hogy a reformszerződés nyomán az Európai Unió visszanyeri önbizalmát és növelni tudja cselekvőképességét.

About the Brussels Summit Launching the Reform Treaty

We welcome the news that at the meeting of the European Council the political leaders of the member states succeeded in reaching an agreement about the institutional issues of high relevance. Two years after the deadlock of the constitutional process, we now strongly believe that following the Reform Treaty the European Union regains its confidence and be able to increase its activities.
